Friends of Frenchay School (FOFS)

Who are we?

At Frenchay C of E Primary School we have a very active 'Friends of Frenchay School' (FOFS). FOFS are an integral part of the school community and are about much more than simply fundraising. We help to build our thriving school community by running a series of events throughout the year, including non-uniform days, fairs, cake sales, school discos, film nights and much more.

Through running the events, we do raise valuable funds for the school, which are spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education experience and the school’s facilities. We’ve helped the school:

  • create cosy book corners for each classroom,

  • restock the library,

  • buy road safety signs,

  • make World Book Day that little bit more special with hot chocolates for bedtime stories, and

  • make the lead up to Christmas fun by providing entertainers, Christmas crackers and presents from Father Christmas.

At the moment, the big project we are working towards is the creation of an outdoor classroom, with shelter from the sun and the rain!

 How Can I Get Involved?

Volunteer!

We are always looking for volunteers to join the committee and help organise the events we run. It is great to have fresh ideas and injections of enthusiasm!  You could put yourself forward for a specific role, as a class rep or as a general member. We meet on average about twice a term and get involved as much as we can individually in the events themselves. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch via chair@friendsoffrenchayschool.com

If you think you can help out on the odd occasion, we’d still greatly appreciate that – without parent/carers support many of the events we run just aren’t possible.

Here are some of the ways you could get involved ad hoc:

  • bake/buy cakes for the cake sales we run.

  • run a stall or food/drink station at a fair.

  • sell tickets in the playground for events.

  • get the party going on the dance floor at a FOFS disco.

  • crowd control (!) at film nights.

  • share a skill – e.g. graphic designers can help with our publications/leaflets, chef’s may volunteer to cater for a pop up cafe night, artists/crafters could run a workshop.

  • share contacts of businesses or venues that may be able to help us.
